Let the festivities begin…

Ho,Ho,Ho!  With advent officially starting this weekend I feel that it’s OK to start talking about the “C” word.  After what seems like months of moaning about it being too early to start the Christmas talk, and doesn’t it seem to roll around earlier every year, everyone where I work now seem to be in a position where they can’t believe it’s upon us!

Christmas would be the same without Charlie Brown

I guess we go into denial over the months of October and November (as if it being dark when we go to AND go home from work isn’t enough to cope with!).  But it’s with some smugness that I can say that most of our pressies are in and we’re just looking forward to the MANY celebrations, it seems these days that everywhere you have any kind of social interaction wants to celebrate with their own little party of sorts.

There’s work, of course, then your team at work, folks in you second job (the Youth Centre), the 5-a-siders (tonight – WooHoo!) – the santa experience(s) with the wee ones, the turning on of christmas lights in the town (I’ll miss coz it’s tonight WooHoo!!).  And we have to fit our families, our jobs and our normal every-day-of-the-year lives in there too!

Please don’t read this as a moan – I’m not moaning, I love this time of year – it just seems to come around so quickly!

  1. I’d like to point out that by ‘pressies are in’ my husband is referring to the fact that most of them are under his desk at work and have been for over a week now. By some miracle, ie me going to his office to lift them, they will get wrapped and put under the tree before christmas. But yes the spirit of christmas has descended on the mullan household and we love it. everyone should have a copy of the Bare Naked Ladies christmas album, very festive stuff.
